As I watch the fire,
My mind starts to soar,
The things of my past,
The things of no more.
The family we built,
The love that we shared,
The things that he said,
And the way that he cared.
As I watch the fire,
My body goes numb,
Thinking of him,
And the songs that we sung.
I’m so thankful he was here,
To save her from harm,
Our child he rescued,
With just his strong arm.
As I watch the fire,
I heard him scream,
The sound of terror,
That too had left me.
He is gone now,
There was nothing I could do,
My husband I dearly loved,
And a firefighter too.
