I Am

I Am

I am a person, who loves to be with their family,
Always in awe, on how the world could end inevitably.
Around me, mysterious voices scream, no identity to heed,
My life whirs by, at an astonishing speed.

A desire within me, to truly comprehend,
How much I mirror my dad, where our features blend.
The joy of being with kin, is my reality,
I am a person, who loves to be with their family.

With the world, I feign a fabulous life of thrill,
While the distance widens in my family, against my will.
A tender touch on my nephew’s hand, makes me foresee,
Would his journey, be devoid of glee?

The dread of my siblings falling into a pit despair,
The sorrow of our parents, locked in problems’ lair,
Despite the hardships, despite the anomaly,
I am still a person who loves their family.

Highland, a path to knowledge, I understand,
College, an affirmation from my own hand.
A dream persists, my real dad to see,
A striving force, to excel academically.

The hope that my mom’s beau, would quit the drink,
All these thoughts, a woven link.
In the midst of all, one thing steady,
I am a person, who loves my family.
