If They’d Heard Their Mother’s Voices

If They'd Heard Their Mother's Voices

If they’d heard their mother’s voices,
If their mothers were allowed to sing,
If they’d known about no boundaries,
If they’d once let freedom ring.

If their fathers held them closer,

How could they have lived among us
And never made one friend?
Did they hear our fun and laughter,
Over and over and over again?

Couldn’t they see we were so giving,
One for all and all for one?
If they had they never would have

Holding my baby in his arms?

When they saw old glory wave,
Did they know we’d show our metal,
Like the Finest and the Brave?

If they knew we’ve always stood behind
The underprivileged weakest one,
They never would have killed
My daughter or my son.

If they’d heard their mother’s voices,
If their mother’s were allowed to sing,
If they’d known about no boundaries,
If they’d once heard freedom ring,
If their fathers held them closer,

Until their fears of darkness gone,
They never could have killed
