Last Light

Last Light

It is dark in this place,
Once filled with hopes and dreams.
Now only hatred and pain,
I am on my own side, it seems.

Everyone else stays in the light,
Filled with happiness and cheer.
While I am filled with anything but,
No one is with me here.

No one will ever be,
They are happy, I am not.
Will they ever understand me?
I believe, they will not.

Can I blame them? I think not so.
I too, would want to remain happy, as they do.
But I have forgotten how,
I don’t know how to return to the sunshine’s glow.

I know only rain and night now,
Watching the moon, my silent plight.
It is my only friend,
In this cold and lonely night.

It understands and listens,
Though it never talks back to me.
It helps me throughout my life,
A beacon in the sea.

The moon, my last light of hope,
Of dreams, and my one love.
It is a flame that never dies out,
A guiding light from above.
