My Darling Child
By Deborah Ratte
From the first time I held you, my love started to grow,
And I knew you were special, because God told me so.
I watched you grow each day and learn,
But, my love for you, you did not need to earn.
For as a mother, I did vow to love my children every day,
And to thank God for this precious gift of life as I pray.
And so everyday, I’ll tell you again,
My love for you will never end.
Though we may disagree, argue and fight,
The bond of my love will always hold tight.
When you stumble and make mistakes,
Oh how a mother’s heart does ache.
And even in your darkest hour of fear,
Always know, your mother’s love is near.
And so everyday, I’ll tell you again,
My love for you will never end.
So, whatever today or tomorrow will bring,
No matter how great your troubles may seem.
If you shall fall, you can count on me to be there,
To pick up the pieces of despair.
And when you need love to feel secure,
Your mother’s love is always here.
And so everyday, I’ll tell you again,
My love for you will never end.
