I ran across his profile one day,
In an online search for love, my worldly way,
Wasn’t sure what I was looking for,
Just wishing for help from that kindling store.
Out of all of the profiles; a multitude in the rack,
His was the one that kept coming back,
No matter how many I beheld in view,
His stood out, right on cue.
I thought to myself with a wistful sigh,
This is one time that I can’t be shy,
A haunting question in my mind flew by,
What if? What if? He is the right guy.
I decided to flirt, cast a lure out there,
Winked at him, heart fluttering in the mid-air,
He winked back, such a captivating stare,
The excitement, was almost more than I could bear.
We danced words, back and forth a time or two,
A hesitation, an anticipation, the rhythm grew,
Unsure of what was to happen, or what to do,
Stagnant on a journey we barely knew.
In the warmth of an afternoon’s innocent sun,
We were online chatting, curiosity spun,
He asked for my number, a thrilling run,
Promised, ‘I will talk to you soon’, the game was won.
Not a few moments passed, nor the sun decline,
My phone started ringing, it was his pantomime,
Excitement churning, I almost hit the floor,
Anxious nerves hit the high score.
