Sarah

Sarah

Sarah had oval brown eyes, behind her bright pink glasses,
Her black, curly hair tied back to a pony,
Refusing to let out her assets.
She was a very nice girl,
Who was pretty average, yet labeled uncool.

For being the president of the science club
And tutoring kids after school.
She dreamt of making the cheerleading team,
Just like the most popular girls in her school.

She felt very lonely, couldn’t hold back the tears,
Yet nobody heard or noticed, her crying for years.
This girl tried very hard to fit in,
But the kids at school did not comprehend
That it was okay to be different too,
So much she wished they’d understand.

Sarah decided on one fine day,
She’d be like the rest, and dress all the same;
She straightened out her hair,
Threw out the long skirts, left her glasses behind,
She now had blue eyes.

She walked in high heels, her new jeans were too tight,
Her hips swung when she walked, from the left to the right.
Sarah felt so uncomfortable, yet she wouldn’t give up,
So she gave a smile, and showed off her makeup.

She decided to do things,
That she thought weren’t so great,
These choices she made, She’d soon start to hate.
Sarah would now make fun of the kids
That, like her before, were different as well.

Sarah gave them weird looks, ‘Those kids were lame,’
She did not understand
