Seeing The Light After The Nightmare

Seeing The Light After The Nightmare

She’s just realized,
That she is with child,
He won’t come back,
Not for a while.

So there’s another war,
Another life yet taken,
She’s left all alone,
Her heart will awaken.

A man is at her door,
Wearing a suit,
She cannot believe it,
It cannot be true.

Her husband is dead,
With, not one breath to spare,
“Is somebody out there?”
“Does somebody care?”

Three months later,
She has her child,
He looks like his father,
It’s driving her wild.

She looks in his eyes,
And guess what she see’s?
She see’s her dead husband,
Caught in debris.

She jumps at the thought,
And cannot believe,
That he made her baby,
Then had to leave.

She can’t take,
The fact that he’s gone,
She looks at the baby,
It’s almost dawn

She says her goodnights,
And puts the baby to rest,
She’ll never know,
That he has been blessed.

A kiss on the cheek,
Slowly close the door,
She loves him so much,
But he needs her more.
