First thing in the morning,
Before I step out of bed,
I hear this huge voice
Inside of my head.
And in that way He speaks to me,
So I pray.
As I wait for the school bus,
To pick me up each morning,
I feel a little twitch,
As if to give a warning.
And in that way he speaks to me,
So I pray.
Right before that big test,
That I studied all night for,
The teacher lets us review our notes,
Before she walks through the door.
And in that way he speaks to me,
So I pray.
All day long,
I hear the gossip in school,
About the kids who overdosed,
Cuz they thought poppin’ pills was cool.
And in that way he speaks to me,
So I pray.
When I get home,
I pick up the newspaper,
Only to hear about the girl,
Who was killed after the guy raped her.
And in that way he speaks to me,
So I pray.
We sit at our dinner table,
While some have to eat from the ground,
Thankful cuz there’s more than enough,
To always go around.
And in that way he speaks to me,
So I pray.
Then at night time,
I try to lay down,
I need my energy for tomorrow,
To start a fresh new round.
And in that way he speaks to me,
So I pray.
