Soul Mates

Soul Mates

Almost four years ago, we fell in love,
With whispered words of endearment from above.
Hurried kisses so as not to be seen,
Long chats on computer, telephone, creating a serene.

Until we could be together all the time,
In our hearts, a rhythm and rhyme.

Somewhere along the line everything fell apart,
We each went our separate ways, a heavy heart.
A marriage diverted, derailed, left by the wayside,
Dreams of being together forever, cast aside.

Alas, our friendship remains,
Despite the love’s pains.
A friendship that has weathered many a storm,
In our romance and now our friendship worn.

Love and loyalty to one another will prevail,
A forever bond, that shall never frail.
“Friends forever we both desire”,
In our hearts, a never-ending fire.

I truly believe you came into my life with a purpose,
To love me for the time you did, in surplus.
And when I was strong enough to move on,
You left our love behind, to dawn.

Embarking upon our friendship journey,
Which will forevermore sustain, summoning attorney.
Binding us as we strive for bliss,
In life’s winding road’s abyss.

You have been, and are, my soulmate,
A bond that entered my life, not a minute late.
A soulmate you will remain as my friend,
A friendship that will never bend.
