Where I’m From
I’m from everywhere and everything
Beautiful flowers from our garden
S’mores by the campfire
I’m from the sound of drills working on our new addition
Sticky gooey clay from the pottery wheel
And I’m also from the terrorist attack that happened September 11th
I’m from snowflakes melting in my hand
And late night thunderstorms scarring me as a child
Old people perfume that my grandma wears
those yummy Thanksgiving dinners
I’m from fireworks on the 4th of July
I’m from food baking in the kitchen
Smooth hot sand rubbing against my bare feet
Cotton candy melting in my mouth
The final bell going off on the last day of school
I’m from the sun setting by the ocean
And all is calm and quiet
